The Qatar national football team suffered a heavy loss to Canada 6-0 in the second round of the group stage in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Qatar played with ten men after defender Hamam Al-Amin was sent off in the 33rd minute for a foul on Canadian midfielder Buchanan, and then with nine men in the 53rd minute after Asim Madbo was sent off for a violent tackle on striker Ismail Kone. The game went largely in one direction from the start, as Canada's quick and dangerous attacks left Qatar struggling to keep up. After a promising start, Qatar's defense was breached in the 16th minute by a goal from Canadian striker Larin, who scored after a corner kick was initially saved by goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nada. The goal was followed by another in the 29th minute, as Juventus striker Jonathan David scored with a powerful shot after the ball rebounded off a defender. Before the end of the first half, Canada's dominance resulted in a third goal, scored by David after Abu Nada saved a header from Larin. After Kone's injury, Canada regained their composure and scored a fourth goal from a free kick in the 64th minute, courtesy of substitute Saliba. Another substitute, Shaffelburg, scored the fifth goal in the 75th minute with a powerful shot that deflected off defender Mohammed Muneer's foot. David completed the scoring in the dying minutes of the game. The results of the second group are: Canada 6 Qatar 0, Switzerland 4 Bosnia and Herzegovina 1.
